We did have an Ellenbrook ride scheduled but we've realised that November 21 is the Jacaranda Festival and the peak of the Jacaranda blossoms...so Terry is going to lead us on the "Colour Purple Ride" and we'll re-schedule the Ellenbrook ride for December 5th.

Terry's suggestion is as follows:-

"The route I’m thinking is a little convoluted, but is basically: Ride along Tweedale and Matheson, cross Canning Hway at Cunningham, go up Wireless Hill, return to foreshore, head towards Freo for a bit more distance (turnaround at roundabout near golf course near Point Walter?), coffee at Toscanini near Canning Bridge?"

Saturday October 24, 2015 - Hill ride to Kalamunda

Ride Organiser: Robert Hind Robert@robert-hind.com
Organisers mobile tel: 0417 934 502
Ride style: Social
Ride type: Road
Terrain: Hilly
Estimated Distance: 50 kms
Time: 8:00 am
Location: Corner Scott St and Great Eastern Highway, Koongamia

**** Summer start time - 8:00 am ****

This week's ride is a hilly ride starting at 8:00 am from the library at the corner of Scott St and Great Eastern Hway, Koongamia.

It has been well over a year since we included this route in our schedule, and a lot longer since I've done it. The hills make it one of our less popular rides but it is an essential inclusion in a balanced ride calendar and good for all round riding skills and strength.

We'll take the back streets to Mundaring via a series of fairly short hills, then cycle past the weir to Kalamunda. The hill on the Kalamunda side of the weir and the last few km into Kalamunda are the big challenges of the ride. Morning tea will be at Le Croissant. We'll head back to the start via Gooseberry Hill and the zig-zags.

Terry is fine to lead the Northern Beaches ride on Saturday – though with an expection the weather won’t be fine he suggests we call it a “left-minded ride” ‘cos no right-minded person would plan a ride when there’s a 90% chance of rain. ;-) He is happy to do it. Happy to wear a rain jacket, if needed.

Rides from May 23 to July 4 inclusive, 2015

I'll be away for a few weeks from May 25 and won't have ready access to the internet so as discussed last Saturday I'll be posting rides for several weeks in advance.

(Although our house-sitter will look after many things I can't ask her to look after the blog!!)

If anyone has any specific rides they would like to schedule on specific dates please let me know via email by Saturday...otherwise as suggested I'll simply pick a few rides and post them on the blog.

Saturday May 2, 2015 - Heritage trail

Ride Organiser: Robert Hind
Organiser's email: Rides@robert-hind.com
Organiser's mobile telephone no: 0417 934 502
Ride style: Social
Ride type: Mountain Bike - non technical
Terrain: Steady Climb then Good descent
Estimated Distance: 45kms
Start Time: 8:30 am
Start Point: Darlington Tennis Courts

It is only two weeks since the last heritage trail ride - but it is back again by popular demand.

We'll do the easy mountain bike ride on the Heritage Trail. We'll meet and start at the tennis courts in Darlington then ride down the track to Pechey Park then up the track North of Great Eastern Highway up to Sawyers Valley. This a fairly easy, steady climb. We'll cross the highway and return on the south side with a finish at Darlington for coffee / food.

For those of you who haven't done much mountain bike riding this is an excellent way to get accustomed to MTB rides.

Whether you're a member of the Ride_Group or a guest please let us know (Rides@robert-hind.com) if you're planning on joining us for the ride.

I won't be joining on the ride. Andrea and I have a family only wedding to attend (ours). No facebook messages about this please - until after we've made our own facebook announcement.

Saturday February 21, 2015 - Life Cycle for CanTeen [OnRoad] - practice ride #03

Ride Organiser: Robert Hind
Organiser's email: rides@robert-hind.com
Organiser's mobile telephone no: 0417 934 502
Ride style: Social
Terrain: Mainly Flat
Estimated Distance: 40 or 55 kms?
Start Point: Narrows - South Side
Start Time: Maylands 7:30, Narrows 8:00

Note - Mandurah ride re-scheduled for Saturday Feb 28, 2015.

Ride_Group members are invited to join us for a Life Cycle for CanTeen [OnRoad] familiarisation ride on Saturday.

We'll meet at the Narrows. South at 8:00 am.

The actual route and distance will be determined by consensus depending on who turns up. Our last Practice ride from the Narrow involved a split in to two groups with the slower group doing going from the Narrows to Point Walter via Canning Bridge and the second, faster group taking a longer route (via Freo).

We'll probably try and do something different this time.

There had been discussion about including a stop in at Cafe Gelato in Vic Park either as coffee stop during the ride or as an optional stop after but I'm not sure how to fit this in.
